Join us in Room 207 at Murphy's Pharmacies Community Centre for "Turning Inside Outside: Addressing Anxiety and Related Disorders in Children and Teens" by Halifax-based, clinical child psychologist Dr. Daniel Chorney.
Dr. Chorney will discuss anxiety and related disorders, as well as treatments available for each disorder. He will also recommend self-help resources (books, websites, and apps) that parents and education professionals can use at home or at work to support children with anxiety.
Dr. Daniel Chorney is a clinical child psychologist who focuses on helping people overcome anxiety disorders, OCD, and insomnia.
Originally from Vancouver, Dr. Chorney completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia later received his Ph.D. from West Virginia University under the supervision of Dr. Tracy Morris. His graduate training focused heavily on the early identification and treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD in young children. He completed his clinical internship training at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Prior to starting the private practice Dr. Daniel Chorney & Associates, Dr. Chorney worked at the IWK Health Centre as a Staff Psychologist within the Community Mental Health program and served as the Team Leader for the Anxiety Program (Treatment of Anxiety Group).
When not at the office, Dr. Chorney regularly presents on the topics of anxiety, depression, stress management, and school refusal behaviours. He currently serves as a volunteer on the Scientific Advisory Council of Anxiety Canada, an organization dedicated to promoting awareness of anxiety disorders and increasing access to proven resources.
