This event has been approved by the Early Learning and Child Care Board for 3.00 professional development training hours.

Payment Policy:

The ECDA's payment policy for all Professional Development is that fees must be paid prior to attending*. The final date to make your payment is one week prior to the start date of the event, unless otherwise communicated (i.e. council or board run centres for cheque approval/signature, would be the exceptions). If payment is not received, before the event payment deadline, you will not be permitted to attend.

In the past, exceptions have been made by the ECDA, but with our growing membership, it has become increasingly difficult to manage. We thank you for your understanding and your commitment to your ongoing Professional Development. The ECDA.

*If you are mailing a cheque, please be aware you should allow a few days ahead of the deadline for it to be received by the ECDA office.

How to Make the Early Learning Framework Part of your Daily Practice (Alberton)

Workshop Description

First session: Wednesday, March 6th, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Second session: Wednesday, April 17th, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

You have to be registered for the session on March 6th to attend the session on April 17th!

Do you work with the Early Learning Framework?

  • Is ELF new to you and the thought of looking through that big binder make you nervous?
  • Have you tried ELF but it felt off; like it didn’t fit you or your practice?
  • Has ELF been something you are familiar with but it’s time to freshen up and get some new ideas?

Join us for a 2-part interactive workshop discussing how to make the Early Learning Framework work for you. You are invited and encouraged to bring along anything that you may be working on; wondering about; stuck on; or proud of to share with our group.

In session 1, we will discuss our own journeys and challenges that arose. We will then talk about our own successes and how we can make ELF a part of our own daily practice. There will be examples of every step of my own journey and what worked at that time and why it needed to change.

In session 2, after having some time to ideas from our first meeting into practice, we will regroup to chat about how it has affected us. Has it been easier to fit ELF into your schedules? Have any of the ideas benefitted you? Have any new challenges arisen? And what’s next for us as educators?

The hope is that we will build each other up and offer support where we can.

Facilitator Bio

Holly Colwill, ECE, has over 12 years of experience as a front-line worker. She is currently employed at the Tyne Valley Playschool Early Learning Center in Tyne Valley, Prince Edward Island. She has 3 children and is a dedicated hockey mom. She believes that children (and adults) learn best through experiences and hands-on learning. Holly is passionate about her profession and enjoys sharing her experiences with others.
