Agenda April 28th:
9:30 am - Alicia Arsenault - Early Childhood F/P/T Project Manager:
As part of the Canada-PEI bilateral agreement, and based on feedback from the field, the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning is looking to create an orientation document translated into several of the most common languages for newcomer families starting at child care centres on PEI. We are seeking collaboration and input from the sector on what elements we should include within this document to help new families adjust to the licensed child care environment. Recognizing that each centre operates a little differently, we are aiming to focus on elements that are similar across the sector (seasonally appropriate clothing) and those that are easily adjusted within a template-style document (hours of operation). Please give some consideration to what information could suit a document of this nature- we look forward to hearing your input at the meeting!
10:15 am - Round Table Discussion
The Supervisor's Network Meeting is open to all Supervisors, Directors, and Administrators of licensed early learning and child care programs. The intention of the group is to encourage open dialogue and knowledge exchange to enhance quality practices, such as human resource practices and policies, pedagogy, and leadership.
Depending on the number of people who register for this session (and we do hope it is everyone), it can be difficult to do a round table in this format. So, if you have something you would like to discuss, whether it be a topic you'd like to delve into or a burning question for Jennifer, or your colleagues, we ask that you please pre-submit an email to Jennifer (within a week of the meeting) signifying that you would like the floor. In this email, identify if there is a topic or questions you would like to discuss.
Please send these emails to jennifer.nangreaves@ecdaofpei.ca, and in order to ensure we don't miss anyone, please put "Supervisor's Network Meeting Aprl 28th" in the email subject line so it is easy to find all requests.
Please note: Sometimes if it is a complex issue with a lot of parts, a phone call is better, rather than trying to explain things by email and awaiting the back and forth response. So, if you feel it is a complex issue, please feel free to contact Jennifer via phone prior to the meeting so you are able to engage in real time - (902) 368-0070.
