Teaching and working with children is a privilege and responsibility many of us hold to a high standard. As educators, we strive to adapt and provide the most relevant and up to date frameworks to guide us in our approach and support of those children entrusted to our care.
This will focus on understanding challenging behaviors, trauma informed approach and strategies to support environmental management for children in the early years.
Part One will overview understandings of behavior, and trauma informed approach (TIA), and how we can merge the Behavior and Trauma Informed frameworks. Part Two will overview the use of strategies and approaches to supporting children under the lens of TIA, while addressing challenging behavior and continued skill development.
Facilitator Biography:
Chelsey Broderick is a Behavior Specialist who focuses on building success for children using a student centered approach. Her focus revolves around skill acquisition, student-educator relationships, and behavior management strategies to promote learning and pro-social behaviors.
Chelsey has worked in Prince Edward Island for the past 12 years in a variety of roles, such as Early Years Autism Specialist, Autism Consultant, Inclusive Education Consultant and Behavior Consultant. Her educational background includes Psychology, Child and Youth Studies, Education and Applied Behavior Analysis specialities. Chelsey lives with her husband Omar, and their two children, Maximus and Mila, in Cornwall, PEI.
