Workshop description:
Harmony Wagner will demonstrate how to build and use various styles of puppets with readily available materials. The strengths and weaknesses of each puppet style use in storytelling will be explored. In this workshop, you will various styles of puppets, examples would be: a flying butterfly, an inching caterpillar, an eyeball rig that transforms your hand into a puppet, a sock puppet with moving mouth, and a glove puppet with unmoving mouth/moving arms.
Facilitator Bio: Harmony Wagner
Harmony Wagner has worked as a puppeteer for television (Big Teeth Bad Breath, YTV) and was trained at Canada's eminent puppet building workshop Radical Sheep Shop. Her parents worked with Jim Henson and toured North American Children's Festivals as performers, so she has been privy to world class puppetry all her life. Harmony co-produced the preschool webseries www.bunnybop.com. The tv pilot of Bunnybop was nominated for the best international kid's pilot at the Banff World Media Festival.
