Workshop Description:
In this unique two-part workshop, Carolyn Knox will provide you with the building blocks of foundation nutritional knowledge you need to facilitate healthy outcomes, and Shannon Oschner will teach you the practical ways to apply that knowledge.
Carolyn's workshop:
A healthy relationship with food sets the stage for good lifelong eating habits. Children learn this around the table with their families, as well as from meals they share at Early Learning Centers. Join registered dietitian, Carolyn Knox from Public Health and Family Nutrition to learn strategies that support happy mealtimes and healthy tummies which help children to grow and learn to their potential. This informal and informative session will discuss the development of healthy eating habits and provides trouble-shooting ideas for the most common childhood eating issues.
Shannon's workshop:
Are you struggling to offer healthy foods at your centre, while also sticking within a reasonable food budget? Shannon will discuss how the Healthy Living Guidelines can be met on a budget, with a focus on cheaper alternatives for traditionally expensive ingredients and quick tips to reduce food costs. She will provide recipes and samples of a healthy snack that the children at your centre will love!
