10 Reasons to Choose Quality Early Learning and Child Care

Expert knowledge Early childhood educators are experts in child development and are trained to create inspiring learning environments!
Intentionality Early childhood educators provide your child the gift of time and attention. They will stop and explore the new flowers or jump in the mud puddles with your child.
Young at heart Early childhood educators know how to have fun! They’re not afraid to be silly and laugh with your child; all while nurturing your child’s creativity and helping to build their self-confidence.
Setting limits Every child needs reasonable boundaries, such as no playing ball inside. Early childhood educators set limits and support families in doing the same.
Love of literacy Early childhood educators read and tell stories, sing songs, and do puppet shows to inspire a love of language and to build early literacy skills.

Confidence boost Early childhood educators provide safe opportunities for your child to be independent and to become confident in their personality and decision making skills.
Inspired learning Early childhood educators ask open-ended questions to inspire creative thought and curiosity, to encourage children to explore, and to make learning fun.
Life skills Early childhood educators use their expertise to develop programs that use play as a tool for teaching math, literacy, science and essential life skills that last for life!
Making friends Early childhood educators are educated to appropriately support children to gain social skills, which are so important in making friends and developing positive relationships!
Helping hand Everyone gets stumped by parenting from time to time - juggling schedules, demands, and behaviours. When it gets tough and you need someone to talk to, reach out to your child’s early childhood educator!

2015 AGM & Outside Spaces Bus Tour

July 31st, 2015

The Annual General Meeting of the ECDA will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at 8:00AM at the West Royalty Community Centre (1 Kirkdale Rd, Charlottetown).  This is a breakfast meeting so bring your appetite! This year we're bringing back the Outside Spaces Bus Tour! we'll be visiting four centres to see their unique spaces, learning how they made it all happen, and brainstorming new possibilities for each space! We've booked the Ultimate Limo Bus to ensure LOTS of fun along the way, and we'll cap off the morning with a lunchtime BBQ back at the community centre!

During the AGM, we will recap the year's activities as an association, and provide the opportunity for you to have your voice heard and impact the work of the ECDA by tabling a recommendation from the floor. This is the appropriate time to bring up an item of business for the Board of Directors to consider, such as a request for a piece of research to be conducted, the timing of the annual meeting to be reviewed, or professional development training opportunities. This is your organization and the annual meeting is your time to become involved in the operations and direction of the organization.

* Please note that admission to the AGM breakfast is free of charge and attendees are not required to participate in the bus tour that follows.

The bus tour is a great opportunity for centres to show off what they've worked so hard to achieve! Whether you've recently installed a new feature, done a complete overhaul of your space, or if you've always been proud of your centre's outside environment, we'd love to hear from you!

To apply to be one of our featured stops, contact Carrie at carrie@earlychildhooddevelopment.ca. Include your centre name, location, and describe a few of the features you would like to show everyone on the tour! Include a photo or two (optional).

As ECEs, our best teachers in early childhood are often other early childhood educators - so let's get together, learn from one another, and celebrate our achievements! Want to come along for the ride? Space on the bus is very limited to 30 passengers! To reserve your seat on the bus call Bonnie at 902-368-1866 or email bbell@earlychildhooddevelopment.ca. Cost of the tour is $15 (taxes included).
