Early Childhood Education Week in PEI is November 2nd - 6th 2015!
Early Childhood Education Week is a time to recognize the importance of the development that happens in the early years, and to celebrate the programs and educators who provide children with the support they need to grow and learn during this critical stage of life. Early childhood educators and early learning and child care centres make an important contribution to children, families, and the community by providing services and programs that support families to go to work or school, as well as quality learning environments for children to expand their knowledge and explore their world. Through play, children learn important skills for life.
Each year, early learning and child care centres across PEI celebrate ECE Week in different ways, including: leaving thank-you notes or sending flowers to fellow staff members, having celebration lunches or special treats, arranging a parade around the community, taking out ads in community newspapers, updating Facebook statuses to share the important work of ECEs, or having an open houses - to name a few! Let us know how you are celebrating ECE week! Send us an email at shayna@earlychildhooddevelopment.ca and your story could be featured in our newsletter or on our Facebook page!
The Early Childhood Development Association of PEI celebrates alongside the sector with a number of initiatives. This year, The ECDA has organized two contests:
Radio Contest
Once again this year, in partnership with Owl's Hollow and Ocean 100, the ECDA will be presenting the "Nominate an ECE" contest on 100.3FM in PEI. Families of children in child care have the opportunity to nominate their favourite early childhood educator, and they could win two $100 gift cards from Owls Hollow Toys & Games - one for the family and one for their educator!
This contest will launch on Monday November 2nd on the Ocean 100 website and the winner will be announced Friday November 6th.
Family Colouring Contest
The ECDA invites parents and guardians of young children in child care on PEI to enter the 2015 #ECEweek colouring contest! Families can show their support for ECE Week by choosing a colouring page with a statement that resonates with them about the importance of ECEs and the early years. Once the colouring page is complete, parents can return it to their child's centre, where educators can display these empowering messages throughout ECE Week. Families who complete a colouring page will be entered to win 4 tickets to the upcoming Holiday Magic Show at the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown! It's a quick and easy tool that we've made available with the goal of including parents in the celebration of Early Childhood Education Week!
