10 Reasons to Choose Quality Early Learning and Child Care

Expert knowledge Early childhood educators are experts in child development and are trained to create inspiring learning environments!
Intentionality Early childhood educators provide your child the gift of time and attention. They will stop and explore the new flowers or jump in the mud puddles with your child.
Young at heart Early childhood educators know how to have fun! They’re not afraid to be silly and laugh with your child; all while nurturing your child’s creativity and helping to build their self-confidence.
Setting limits Every child needs reasonable boundaries, such as no playing ball inside. Early childhood educators set limits and support families in doing the same.
Love of literacy Early childhood educators read and tell stories, sing songs, and do puppet shows to inspire a love of language and to build early literacy skills.

Confidence boost Early childhood educators provide safe opportunities for your child to be independent and to become confident in their personality and decision making skills.
Inspired learning Early childhood educators ask open-ended questions to inspire creative thought and curiosity, to encourage children to explore, and to make learning fun.
Life skills Early childhood educators use their expertise to develop programs that use play as a tool for teaching math, literacy, science and essential life skills that last for life!
Making friends Early childhood educators are educated to appropriately support children to gain social skills, which are so important in making friends and developing positive relationships!
Helping hand Everyone gets stumped by parenting from time to time - juggling schedules, demands, and behaviours. When it gets tough and you need someone to talk to, reach out to your child’s early childhood educator!

ECDA Fall Conference 2020

PLEASE NOTE:   With the exception of the Francophone sessions and the sessions being held at North Rustico Lions Club, the other sessions are being repeated each day, so register carefully and make sure you are not attending the same session twice.

The 2020 ECDA Fall Conference is a bit different this year due to covid regulations, it will be an event strewn across the island on November 12th & 13th! In the absence of an in person keynote and the ability to all gather together, we will have a virtual kickoff leading up to the conference with some fun team-building activities tied in on November 9th and 10th. We are very excited to have Eddie LeMoine and Ben Kingston-Hughes for these keynotes.

This year we are like a pheonix rising from the ashes, having taken on a global pandemic with professionalism and passion for the work we do and the children we care for. With this in mind the title for this year's conference is “Rising to the Top". Our programming is reflective of this.

We have booked venues big enough to accommodate social distancing inside, but we do ask that you bring a mask just in case. Additionally, due to the added restrictions of Covid-19 we are unable to provide nutrition breaks and ask that you please bring snacks for the day, as well as a bagged lunch, or make reservations somewhere close to your venue.

With all of this in mind, we ask that you please carefully read through and be aware of what you are choosing to attend. It will be near impossible to adjust your choices once they are made. We ask that whatever you choose when registering, that is the session you attend. There will be someone assigned to registration at each of the locations and if your name is not on the list, you simply will not be allowed into the venue. Each session has a MAXIMUM of 45 participants. With the exception of the Francophone sessions and the sessions being held at North Rustico Lions Club, each session is being repeated on both days of the conference so you have a second chance to tap into one of your favorite selections, if one is full.

Regardless of which sessions you attend, the expertise of the facilitators will revitalize your passion for your work in the field of early childhood care and education. Thank you for attending the 2020 ECDA Fall Conference–the knowledge you gain enriches the futures of the families and children in your care!

Mark your calendar and get excited for another uplifting, inspiring conference with PEI's ELCC field!

The ECDA would like to acknowledge our major sponsorship partner for the 2020 ECDA Fall Conference, Dairy Farmers of Canada, who have helped to make this event possible.
