Every now and then, families call around to the child care centres they have signed up to on the PEI Early Learning and Child Care Registry to check on their wait list status. While the ECDA recommends that no family's position should be revealed to them by the centre director (due to a number of reasons), what if they aren't on the list at all?
Since the ECDA began the 90-day deactivation process last year, many families who are no longer looking for care have been removed from the registry. This automatic deactivation has saved directors and families alike from numerous unnecessary phone calls, as families rarely give the ELCC Registry much thought once it has done its job and they have found the care they needed for their children.
However, families who are still looking for care but forget to log in once every 90 days can also become deactivated (after several warning emails and a final email notifying them of this deactivation).
If you do receive a call from a family who is still looking for care, but they do not appear on your wait list, nobody should panic! The account has likely been temporarily deactivated. To reactivate the account, simply ask that family to log in to their ELCC Registry account, and then refresh your wait list and the child's name should immediately reappear in its original position. Be sure to ask them to log in once every 90 days for as long as they are looking for care!
