The Ideal Model is a group workshop that will help participants take tangible steps towards a more balanced approach to their lives, in the midst of taking care of others, juggling work and commitments, and keeping up with our fast-paced world. It is a refreshing, affirming workshop focusing on positive psychology and growth-mindset theory (psychosynthesis!).
Purpose/What Participants Will Gain: Our lives are spun into many conflicting areas: paying the bills; supporting our kids; seeking enjoyment/leisure activities; family matters; the list goes on… This workshop will hone in and allow each participant to consciously create a realistic model of themselves they can use going forward (for a set period of time, or until they decide to change it up). This gives clarity, freedom, and expansiveness to your life as you engage inner strengths that align with your goal. Life is movement, and this workshop aligns with this forward movement.
The workshop focuses on 3 core principles of psychosynthesis:
Participants will use guided imagery to hand draw, sketch (no artist requirements needed!) models and stages for themselves. It’s fun, highly engaging and very personal/useful. The act of drawing stick figures/models is very therapeutic and allows individuals to experience new insights, rather than listening passively to presentations. Mark will facilitate each stage in a fun and deliberate manner. The balance of fun, purposeful, and engaging is my center-point. His experience embodies 12 years of professional facilitation in industry and non-profit organizations alongside his studies in psychosynthesis through the Synthesis Center San Francisco and guided imagery through Dr. Jan Taal, Amsterdam School of Guided Imagery.
Biography:
Mark Douglas is the founder of The Sea Within You. He helps people shift from all those “shoulds” to doing what they really want, and value.
He is a professional astrologer and psychosynthesis coach. What!? Yes, astrology. He spent well over a decade working in human development, largely with social life-skills programming and groups such as the amazing Adventure Group, Reach Foundation, PEI Council of People with Disabilities, Sleepy Hollow penitentiary, Mi’kmaq Confederacy, and Lennox Island First Nation.
Mark designs and facilitates communications and coaching/mentoring programs for large and medium-size organizations — bringing some much-needed emotional and communication strategies to the corporate world for the past decade.
Answering his own call: In a short period, Mark lost both of his parents: His mother to suicide, and his father to health issues, and largely, a broken heart. The effect galvanized his studies and his business model: to help others and provide meaningful, trustworthy services that support their Call of Self. Life is an art, and we should treat it as the most beautiful of arts - Joy, untouched by circumstances.
