10 Reasons to Choose Quality Early Learning and Child Care

Expert knowledge Early childhood educators are experts in child development and are trained to create inspiring learning environments!
Intentionality Early childhood educators provide your child the gift of time and attention. They will stop and explore the new flowers or jump in the mud puddles with your child.
Young at heart Early childhood educators know how to have fun! They’re not afraid to be silly and laugh with your child; all while nurturing your child’s creativity and helping to build their self-confidence.
Setting limits Every child needs reasonable boundaries, such as no playing ball inside. Early childhood educators set limits and support families in doing the same.
Love of literacy Early childhood educators read and tell stories, sing songs, and do puppet shows to inspire a love of language and to build early literacy skills.

Confidence boost Early childhood educators provide safe opportunities for your child to be independent and to become confident in their personality and decision making skills.
Inspired learning Early childhood educators ask open-ended questions to inspire creative thought and curiosity, to encourage children to explore, and to make learning fun.
Life skills Early childhood educators use their expertise to develop programs that use play as a tool for teaching math, literacy, science and essential life skills that last for life!
Making friends Early childhood educators are educated to appropriately support children to gain social skills, which are so important in making friends and developing positive relationships!
Helping hand Everyone gets stumped by parenting from time to time - juggling schedules, demands, and behaviours. When it gets tough and you need someone to talk to, reach out to your child’s early childhood educator!

Fall Conference 2015 Announcement!

June 4th, 2015

Announcing the 2015 ECDA Fall Conference!

*Registration for this event is NOW CLOSED*

Mark your calendars for Thursday October 22nd & Friday October 23rd! Once again we have confirmed some very exciting and talented speakers to join us at Credit Union Place over two days of learning and networking! Click here to read workshop details and to register!

The theme of the ECDA's 2015 Fall October Conference is Living Exceptional Lives! In order for people to live exceptional lives, they must feel a sense of safety and community. During the conference, early childhood educators will reflect on their current practice, and explore how they can enhance their environments and relationships to ensure all people who enter their centre feel welcomed, valued, and included regardless of ability, culture, dietary restrictions, race or sexuality. This does not only apply to the children in their care, but to fellow staff members, the children's families, student interns, and others.

Keynote Speakers this year include Todd Wanerman (author of Including One, Including All), Frances Carlson (author of Big Body Play), and Richard Cohen (comedian and ECE).

The Pre-Conference Day is back! Directors and other program leaders, don't miss this one! Sign up to experience a full-day of specialized learning with Todd Wanerman. How do leaders in inclusive programs embed the values, dispositions and practices of inclusion throughout – from teacher-child relationships to the larger school community (and beyond?) Join Todd Wanerman for a full-day workshop to frame the challenges and opportunities of providing care to a diverse community, and to make practical plans for program development.  An inclusive, hands-on learning model – featuring discussion, facilitation and collaboration and focusing on strengths, questions, challenges, goals and strategies..

This year's annual Thursday Night Kitchen Party will be one for the books! Special guest Richard Cohen is going to bring the house down after a day of workshops! Conference participants won't want to miss this fun-filled evening of music, interactive games, and Richard's special brand of stand-up comedy! As an ECE himself, he knows all too well our daily struggles! Richard will poke good-natured fun at crying babies, snot-nosed kids, helicopter parents, and handprint holiday turkeys!! This evening is dedicated especially to stressed-out, paint-covered, marker-stained early childhood professionals. Let's laugh it off together!!

This year we will also roll out the Bundle Up for Fall Payment Plan, an exciting new bundle deal and payment plan to help you save while still taking part in ALL the fun and learning we have planned! Directors have received detailed bundle and payment plan information. Be sure to ask your director/supervisor about this new and exciting option!! Click here to learn more! **Sign-up for the bundle payment plan is now closed**
